   i hope this is the movie i was looking for. when i was a kid, this was actually the first book i read on my own without being told to do so by teachers and etc.

   Lionfriends, thank you for putting this movie up! it brought back great childhood memories for me, i loved this book along with gary paulson novels. i was a little upset they didnt use the catskils in the movie but hey the movie is never as good as the book. but yea just wanted to say thank you

   I share a b~day with Thoreau!! and I agree with him a lot and I’ve read my side of the mountain 2 times. Once in 5th grade and we watched it and now.

   The movie and book both had inspiried me to learn about nature and survival. Too bad no movies like this ever come out anymore….nothing but junk these days….but I’m young what do I know??

   @KungFuKid1015 That is true. They should make more movies for kids to watch as far as learning about the world around them. If you do like retro nature shows let me suggest ‘The Forest Rangers’. It was a TV show made in the 60′s and is about a group of junior forest rangers that live in a fort in the bush and look after the land and wildlife around them. There are different episodes.
   I really think you would like it.
   The kid that played ‘Chubs’ was second in line for the part of Sam.

    @KungFuKid1015 i think the book Julie of the Wolves by the same author is actually in the process of filming at the moment. so mayb a good movie like this will come out soon after all =)

    This book inspired me to live further and further away from civilization and live off nature.
